GT40 MkIV

I saw this car at The Henry Ford in 2004 in instantly fell in love. In my opinion, it's the most beautiful car ever built.

Ford finished 1-2-3 at Le Mans in 1966 with the Ford GT40 MkII, and weeks later announced they'd return in 1967 with a new car - the MkIV. Powered by the same NASCAR 427 as the MkII but with aerodynamic improvements by Carroll Shelby and driven by Dan Gurney and AJ Foyt, MkIV chassis J-5 won Le Mans by 32 miles over second place.

After the race, Gurney and Foyt were on the podium with bottles of champagne and a sea of reporters staring at them. They didn't know what to do, so Gurney shook up his bottle, popped the cork, and sprayed every reporter and photographer within 15 feet. It was the first celebration of its kind - a tradition that has continued to this day across multiple sports.
